Leeds waterfront comes back to life

The Leeds & Liverpool Canal is the centrepiece of an award winning new regeneration project in the centre of Leeds.

If you are looking for a city centre canalside home or just want to visit and learn about the canal's vital role in Yorkshires industrial past visit Granary Wharf in Leeds on 14th May for a free ‘May mooring’ event. 

Granary Wharf was once an industrial centre for Leeds and was vital for Yorkshire industries' global exports but it is now becoming known for its growing community of pubs and restaurants and the architecture of its residential buildings. 
Free two hour boat trip
On 14th May visitors can view the city from the water on a special free cruise aboard the Kirkstall Fly Boat that will set sail from Granary Wharf at 3:30pm and return at 5:30pm. Spaces are limited so booking is essential email: anys@anitamorrisassociates.co.uk to book a place.
BW info point
British Waterways will have an information point for the day in Unit 1, Granary Wharf where volunteers will be on hand  between noon and  5pm with leaflets and advice about waterside walks, wildlife and leisure activities wildlife which flourish around the Leeds & Liverpool canal and River Aire.
Leeds & Liverpool Canal Society
Mike Clarke, president of the Leeds Liverpool Canal Society, will give a talk from 1 – 2pm in Arch Z about the history of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and the important role the waterways have played in the growth of the city of Leeds past and present.
Free visitor moorings
Granary Wharf is offering boaters two nights free mooring between  the 1st and 31st May with a full range of free boating facilities available on the ground floor of the residential Candle House building including a water point, showers and waste disposal area.
